In 1888 Gandhi goes to London to study law to become a lawyer. in 1893, Gandhi worked as a legal adviser for an Indian company named Dada Abdullah, in South Africa. In 1894 Gandhi organizes the Natal Indian Congress to help the Indian community in south Africa. Gandhi’s family arrives in South Africa in 1897. In 1903 he opens his own law office in the city of Johannesburg. Gandhi was arrested several times for his part in the “Satyagraha” process which he had invented which meant “truth” and “force”. When he was in prison he had to spend nine hours breaking rock and he had to help build a water tank. In 1910 South Africa becomes a united state, the union of South Africa. In 1914 South Africa agrees to change its unfair laws.
